London is no stranger to fashion exhibitions this year, as Christian Louboutin showcases his iconic shoes and the V&A Museum celebrates the history of the ball gown (Post about it soon :) ). But for those with a passion for designer handbags, the Leather Forever Hermes exhibition is surely the only place to go, for a unique insight into the design and creation of these decadent fashion accessories.

Thierry Hermes
Founded by Thiery Hermes in 1837, the Parisian fashion house has a long established reputation for working with leather to create harnesses and saddles, before later moving onto bags, shoes, purses, belts and other fashionable leather items, many of which will be on show in the Leather Forever Hermes exhibition. London fashion fans will be able to learn more about the history of the company, through six generations of artisan crafts, which has enabled them to keep on making the same objects with the same skill and dedication since the business began.

How Jane's Birkin bag idea took off ... THE STORY of Jane's airplane disaster ...

As we are showing you tonight our visit to the 'Leather Forever' Hermes Exhibit, we bought you should know a bit more about the 'it' girl that Was Dumas inspiration ... meet JANE BIRKIN :

She said: "I remember it well. I'd been upgraded by Air France on a flight to London, and was sitting next to a man. I'm not quite sure what type of bag I had with me - my husband, Jacques Doillon, had reversed his car over my basket, crushed it on purpose not two days before. Little did he know that on this airplane journey, when everything fell out of whatever bag I had, the man next to me said: 'You should have one with pockets'. I said: 'The day Hermès make one with pockets I will have that', and he said: 'But I am Hermès and I will put pockets in for you'."
Her fellow passenger was in fact Jean-Louis Dumas, the chief executive of Hermès. Together they began designing. "I said, 'Why don't you make a handbag that is bigger than the Kelly but smaller than Serge's suitcase?'. And he said, 'Well, what would it be like?' And I think I drew it on the sickbag - or the not-be-sick bag. And he said, 'I'll make it for you'."

GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI - FALL / WINTER 12 launch at the Sloane Street Store

Yesterday I was invited by a friend of mine Cameron ( you can see his blog here ) to visit the fw 12 launch at the GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI store in London's Sloane Street . The weather has been lovely so for that worm evening I opted to wear a simple white vest free with nude boots, as I had such a busy day I needed it to be practical :) . The launch was great , we sipped on champagne and freshly squeezed lemon juice and snacked on canapés. The evening was a great way to see and try ( do not tempt me ) the up and coming designs from his fall / winter collection,  and I could not have asked for better company; Here are a few photos from the event and some of the pieces I loved / want  or really need in my life  :
